London beats New York as a leading city for theatre: 2 in 5 top shows originate in UK capital
Data from VisitLondon.com reveals 2 in 5 of the world’s biggest theatre shows originated in London, with 1 in 5 top Broadway shows also starting in the UK capital city. Among the top 10 highest-grossing musicals of all time, this makes London the most popular capital city to debut a show, with Phantom of the Opera and Mamma Mia taking some of the top spots.
