Visit London surprises America’s biggest royal superfan with a special trip to UK capital for the Coronation: Donna Werner 5

As London prepares to welcome visitors for the Coronation of King Charles III, Visit London has invited one of America’s biggest royal supporters to a special royal themed visit to the UK capital ahead of her plans to camp out for a front row seat at the Coronation on Saturday. 71-year-old US citizen, Donna Werner, is a self-proclaimed royal superfan and has been visiting the UK for the past few decades to attend landmark royal events.

Donna’s royal treatment began with a United Airlines flight to London, which included a personal welcome on the plane from the pilot and a special royal welcome from staff at London Heathrow Airport. After touching down, Donna was whisked off to a four night stay at the five-star Guardsman Hotel, situated near Buckingham Palace.

The royal superfan was also treated to a behind the scenes tour of the Tower of London by a Yeoman Warder which included a sneak peek at the The Keys pub used exclusively by the beefeater residents. Other highlights of her special royal itinerary included: a royal themed afternoon tea at the iconic Fortnum & Mason’s Diamon Jubilee Tea salon; premiere tickets to see West End’s award-winning show SIX the Musical and a day trip to Windsor Castle.

Donna has a long tradition of travelling to the UK for royal events, with her first occasion being the wedding of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson in 1986 and more recently the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. However, this visit is particularly special to her as she was unable to attend the Queen’s funeral last year.

Following her stay at the Guardsman Hotel, Donna will be heading down to The Mall to camp out for a prime viewing spot ahead of the Coronation procession on Saturday.

The special London experiences were arranged by Visit London with complimentary offers and support of some of its tourism partners including: United Airlines, London Heathrow Airport, Historic Royal Palaces and Society of London Theatre.

Laura Citron, CEO of Visit London said: “We’re excited to be welcoming visitors from all over the world to London to join in the celebrations around the Coronation of King Charles III. London promises to be at the centre of all the pomp and pageantry and we expect hundreds of thousands of visitors to be in our city over the bank holiday weekend.”

“When we heard about Donna’s dedication to visiting London for royal occasions, we couldn’t not make her dreams come true by offering her a special royal visit during the Coronation. We know that our US audiences are big fans of our city’s royal offer but Donna’s passion for the Royal Family is unique. From visits to our famous royal palaces to a special royal themed afternoon tea experience, we’re delighted to work with our tourism partners to offer Donna a once-in-lifetime trip to London.”
